Medicinal Mushrooms

The use of mushrooms (fungi) medicinally has a long tradition across the world, but its value is only now becoming re-discovered in the West. Many mushrooms are considered to be medicinal, with increasing scientific research to back up claims of many properties including immunostimulant and antitumor.

Medicinal Mushrooms are a natural complement to my practice of Herbal Medicine offering a wider scope of potential remedies. However, it is crucial to have a sound training in the practice of using them as some can be toxic. The addition of a medicinal mushroom to a prescription needs as careful consideration as any herb. Every prescription is prepared on an individual basis following a full consultation. They may be incorporated with herbs or in some cases prescribed separately; I don’t offer a separate Medicinal Fungi consultation.

I undertook a professional course “Exploring the Healing Potential of Medicinal Mushrooms” that has given me a good grounding in the constituents, properties, preparation methods and uses of these amazing organisms.

If you would like to book an appointment or discuss the suitability of herbal medicine as a treatment for you, please contact me.
